Roof spoiler Yes or No

I've been thinking about fitting a rear roof spoiler to try to split the airflow from my car as I think there's a build up of wake/drag holding it back, not sure though. Also it may put a bit of force on the rear. I'm going to do some tests with and without just to make sure it doesn't increase the drag and slow the car down. It would need to get painted green btw.

What do you chaps think? Link

No as an aesthetic thing, yes if it does anything to help.

For a wing to provide downforce there will be drag its part of the physics
A rear wing will not normally provide downforce much below motorway speeds
Your one looks flat so no benefit, if you want one that works an adjustable one would be better so you could tune to short or long circuit

If you're looking at something to break up the wake, wouldn't a spoiler half way down the back be effective? Although having said that it would still need to be high enough to be above what I guess is an airflow 'dead zone'.

There are several production hatchbacks that have them either half way down the rear glass, or where the rear glass meets metal. For example;

could the legs (mounts be shortened a bit? and bigger RWEP fitted? i can put you in touch with an aero god if you want but hes quite sharp mouthed if he doesnt like what he sees!
your welcome to take my raer body section home for a couple of weeks to see how mine mounts/adjusts!
for sprints/hills its very important to get the chassis as low as physically possible (mine runs 40mm) and to keep the airflow tidy underneath. have you flat floored it all? and did you go for the rear diffuser undertray in the end? i think if you take it off the road and modify/make a sprint car out of it.it will no doubt benefit from as much front end downforce as you can get!and be a complete different animal.
i have a set of front dive planes you can have if you can make them work, but they must not exceed the height of the top of front wheel for sports libre regs,!
and for the record, my rear wing creates around 5mph of drag at 100mph but is beneficial as it does work!

Cheers Dan, 5 mph in 100 mph isn't to bad and yours will create loads more dowforce/drag than this red one I might try, well I would of thought so anyway. I suppose I could graft your spare Radical front end on the Kitten, but it wouldn't fit on the trailer then.

Snapper, its like rounded underneath and flat on top with like a kick at the back. See what you think. I would have thought Vauxhall would have tried to make the shape work, all be it on a different car, angle and airflow.

i dont think its too bad as its very hard to even get to those speeds on a hillclimb. it will on a sprint but not too easily. i think the front end is more vital,but yours is quite good on turn in anyway!
i say do some runs with and without it on the hills and see what happens! if its no quicker,leave it off! oh and carbon wrap it. looks good against that green!
