Citroen Xantia/BX/CX/XM/C5. I'm built for comfort and not speed and having spent much of my childhood driving across campsites in citroens thats what I'd go for. Yes they're quite complex so I'd have to learn how to fix it but for the money you could get a few C5 or Xantias, I'm not sure about the other two as they're not so common and I bought a car, and sold a car recently so I'm avoiding all classifieds for the present.

You'd be pushing it to get an estate for the money but an X-type would be fun for that kind of thing with AWD and a nice interior. A Rover 75 is another British option.

MK 3 Escort estate. I took one to Morocco once. Now cheap enough to bin if it breaks, economical, fast enough I suppose and lighter than a 245 Volvo if u've got to push it.

As much as it pains me to say it the subaru came out looking fantasic to me on those dirt roads dragging the other two out, hammond certainly wasnt holding back.

As mentioned though, I wonder what repairs actually went on off camera?

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
