Laquering Rollbar

I took advantage of the warm weekend and painted my rollbar. Etched primer, rub down, primer x 3 , rubdown then Halfords black gloss in a can on top for a good few coats. I'am very happy with the results so far but I dont know wether I should do some coats of lacquer on top?
The instructions on the lacquer say to rub down the paint so its totally matt before applying the laquer! This just seems like undoing all my good work!

It would be a pointless exersise spraying it with lacquer, its only needed to make matt or dull finishes shiny

Excellent, thanks.

What waxing over the top, will then add any protection?

If you’re fitting a hood, then I'd recommend putting something in-between the cloth and the bar like rubber as the dampness from the cloth will rust the bar quite quickly. Otherwise just treat it like any other bit of bodywork

I'd probably leave it as it is. If you wanted a super shiny bling bling finish then sanding it down and spraying a clear coat would be a good option but it'd be a faff. The clearcoat would give some additional protection against rust but waxing it would do the same.

IMHO these cars are designed for driving. As long as dynamically they're good I personally don't mind a little shediness when at rest
