BodyWork Scaling

i need to scale down some full size body work to make an accurate 1/4 scale model. Its not 7 bodywork, and I want to avoid CAD if possible for this project, going old school!!

I have a method which will work using a laser rangefinder, just wanted to pump other people for ideas.

Anyone got anything??

Take some photos and project them onto a wall 1/4 size then trace the outlines onto paper to make your silhouette templates

I have seen somoene create a 1:1 replica of a model using a measuring rig....

They simply mounted the model in the rig and took cross sectional measurements from a known datum to build up a set of "slices".... the slices were then cut from foam and glued together to form the shape of the car.

So I could use a model of a Mclaren F1 and scale it up to build an accurate replica... hmmm, that's got me thinking!

Cheers,
James

That's how the CANAMSA is being made (with a LOT of effort and amazing results)... have a look a the thread in this section for how it was done.
