Powdercoating (again)

Made sure I searched for this subject first, as I more than often find it in previous threads after I have posted.

Anyone had their wheels powdercoated ?

I just wondered what the durability of the stuff is like. Granted, many have had their chassis' done but wheels take a lot of hammer from driven gunk and salt from the roads.

I have been quoted £15 a wheel, with a zinc based underpowdercoat (apparently).

Does the stuff 'dink...chip' like stove enamel ?

Tks gents. By the way, how can you tell a 2.8 from a 2.9 ?
I hope that thread carries on, it makes me smile.
Be great if everyone was wrong.

Powdercoating is fine on wheels, but like most coatings it will chip in time. mine cost £20 each.

I've had my wheels powdercoated, they look the business, unfortunately I've not had them on the road yet so can't comment on chips etc.

And a pic with tyre on.

Gents, thanks for all your replies.
Joel, that sounds fantastic. I am planning on a pretty outrageous paint job so that'd be great if you can find his number. Did he mention cost or turnaround ?
Roadkill, I have the same wheels. If Joel hadn't posted I would have gone ahead and had mine done in Silver too, looks very good.
I have seen 'em done in Black but they seem to merge into the tyre a bit.
Thanks again to all.

here we go:

NB coatings
unit 11-13
brittania works, skinner lane, pontefract
west yorkshire
wf8 1na

01977 600283

describes himself as 'the best in polyester powder coating on m/c and car parts'.

obviously ive only seen his works on a stand at a show, so i cant guarantee he's not a tosser, or that the effect will last. but, its worth a look anyway! no website but he might be able to email you some pikies! (not sure the caravans will get thru the phone line though...)
