Floor and Side Panels Fitment

I have been dithering around trying to decide what to do about putting the floor panels on the car. I have manufactured the floor plates (2mm ally), and have drilled all the holes ready to whack some glue and rivets on, but want to do the floor and side panels together so I can wrap the side panels over the floor plates and rivet them both at the same time.

As I've already drilled the panels for the floor I thought that the best way would be to use them as a template to mark/drill a strip of ally or similar and use that as a template to drill the side panels underneath when I've made them up. That way the holes should line up with those already drilled.

If it's a dopey idea please let me know....along with a less dopey idea

stick the floor on with silkaflex.

bend the side over.

tap lightly with a hammer - the holes in teh floor will (maybe) make indents on the sides showing you where to drill.

hit the holes harder to form a dish that will stop the drill wandering.

(test on a bit of ali first in case i'm completely wrong but it sounds feasible).

Don't stick the sides to the bottom of the floor to give you a chance to get them off at some point without removing the floor.

Don't know if it's any help but I wanted removeable side panels so I attached the floor with rivets and sikaflex then attached the panels at the top and on the bottom fore and aft of the floor panel (nice and solid but fully removeable)

The fibreglass panel bends under the car and covers the floor rivets.
