Transportation covers on trailer
Does anyone use any type of cover over their car when its on a trailer ? My car gets covered in crap when its behind my van and could do with a
cheapish cover to put over it, any ideas ?

I believe Wadders on here (Al) runs a company doing full bodied trailers and trailer covers, I'm sure he'd be happy to sort you out or
point you in the right direction...

cheapish would probably be a car cover from argos, but a covered trailer does have its advantages!

A car cover will flap and rub the paintwork. However a trailer cover will not do that.
Ive seen the damage a loose tarp did to a mates motorhome that had a leaky skylite and the tarp was pulled over to keep the water out.
A few weeks of flapping it took the paint off on some bits.

Covered trailers are probably the best answer - and they make you very popular when it's raining at a circuit (as usual!)
Plus they are as good as a tent :-)

Only problem with a covered trailer is that I keep the trailer in the garage and drive the car onto it. With an up and over door I dont think there
will be enough room heightwise. I will have a measure up in the garage tomorrow. How much weight does a cover and frame add to a trailer ? Brian James

If you put a loose cover on the car, it will flap in the airstream and strip your paint off in 50 miles. Full solid covering or wash the car when you
get there!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

A couple of years ago, when I had an open trailer and the single seater, I wrapped the car in cling film and bale wrap (the stuff farmers use to wrap
big bales) to keep the water out of the cockpit on the long drive down to Wiscombe Park - it worked a treat although I did get some funny looks!

Anyone give me any contacts for getting a cover made for the trailer ? Would prefer somewhere within 70 miles of Oxford if possible.

Reminds me of my dad attempting to rent out spaces under our gazebo that very wet day at Llys Y Fran
Watching closely on this thread as we could do with a cover for our BJ for when we move to the Locost.

I am looking at tailor made car transportation covers too. About £350 for a made to measure cover which is considerably cheaper than getting the
trailer covered. As I tow it with my van I dont need any covered storage space, just like to keep the car dryer and cleaner on long hauls. Off to Pau
in the summer so would be nice not to have a million flies to clean off.
