Floor-skin
Boom Boom!
I'm skinning the entire floor of my Westfield 919 blade
is 2mm NS4 overkill?

2mm half hard (i.e. NS4) is pretty standard. Some swear by steel, a few go thicker than 2mm aluminium.
Not many go thinner on the aluminium and only if they're really weight concious.

Not the same stuff!
1050 is "half hard"
5251 is NS4
I remember helping Liam do some of his bodywork and NS4 is quite different to work compared to 1050 which is almost pure Al.
For a floor though if you are just jigsawing rather than bending I would think NS4 would be quite a good choice.

1050 and 5251 are different alloys of aluminium. They are both available in half hard which relates to the temper, it's half hard if it's
rated Hx4.

Sorry Ian - I read your post wrong
Just trying to get across that when I ordered "half hard", the supplier that I used sent me EN AW 1050A H14 without asking the grade -
tried to get that across with my " " in the post - sorry for the confusion!

No worries (to be honest I'd only ever come across NS4 as half hard, but looking around it seems to also be sold as quarter hard from some
suppliers so I shouldn't have assumed it).
Most of the stock holders seem to supply 1050 if you don't specify, which is probably the right thing to do as most don't know or care
about the properties of the other alloys.
To be honest I spent far too much time deciding on which alloy to use for my panels and it really doesn't matter at the end of the day.
