Help me to choose some side mirrors!
I *think* that I've narrowed my choice of mirrors down to 2...
CBR 600 900 Fireblade type
or
Suzuki GSXR type
So which should I go for?

Having had both, I would say fit CBR600 ones.
They will fit much lower down on the scuttle as the mounts sit at around 90deg to the arm of the mirror. The GSXR ones dont and you have to fit them
much higher.

any idea what the spacing between the mounting bolts is? i got some of the spa ones i always wanted, but they won't do for IVA, and they hit the
bodywork. these might be an alternative

what ever you get make sure they have convex lenses. i got patten r1 mirrors that had flat glass and the off side one failed iva on lack of
visibility.
have now put a convex mirrors on and the difference in visibility is massive

According to those adverts, the Honda ones are 40mm between centres, the Suzuki ones are 30mm. Those are his figures, not mine!
Not fussed about the IVA - the car passed SVA ages ago...

Can't really say about practicality but in terms of look, I prefer the 600's.

Right! Thanks everyone - one set of CBR mirrors ordered!
It was Flak's argument that swung it - the mounting angle. I need as much scope for positioning as possible, as I'll be sitting in my
seat while my wife holds the mirror to check out viewing angles - I'd don't want to end up by finding the right position and then
can't mount them there!
I could have got those cheaper - if I'd bought second-hand, or ordered them from Hong Kong/Taiwan. That sellers 'free P&P' offer
swung it - I've seen one or two places cheaper, but they then wanted £8 or more for P&P.

I just bought THESE on fleabay, but
didn't think to ask if they had convex lenses.
Do they have convex as standard, or are they flat? I know I got them for a good price, but I need to pass IVA more importantly! Don't really
fancy drilling and re-drilling/repairing my scuttle, would rather get the right ones first time round....

They'll probably be flat glass - a bike rider sits a lot closer to the mirrors than a car driver, so gets a wider view anyway.
Disregarding IVA, I don't like convex mirrors as I find it hard to pick up detail in a quick glance. For example, an overtaking car won't
catch your eye until it's REALLY close.

D'oh, not what I was hoping to hear!
So what's the best plan of campaign for me from here on, then? Can you get replacement glass, or is it a whole new unit?
I really should think about these things before I buy stuff! I'm turning into a smaller-scale version of scootz.... you'll probably see
them advertised on here for sale at a reduced price soon if I can't make them work, lol.

I don't know whether they'd call that a "temporary fixing", i.e. not a built-in part of the car.

Final update - I've had astonishing service from that supplier in my first post.
Ordered the mirrors lunchtime yesterday (paid by PayPal) and received them mid-morning today.
Look to be decent quality too!
