How would one go about making one, and how are they attached? One of my must have items apparently.

mine are alinuminium> many layers of glass fibre (no resin) > aluminium.
Rivets hold them together.
A nut/stud welded to the hot part for mounting.

Stainless Steel has better properties to be used as heat shield
