whats the best stuff to make a fly screen from ? Perspex, acrylic or anything else

I am surprised... Perspex was good enough for World War two aircraft going into battle!
Although the Spitfire did have armoured glass in the front screen.
EDIT:
Although I would use Lexan for the car, as its stronger and cheaper than genuine Perspex!
