Can you fit 17" rear wheels and have 2" bump ?

Locost rear Arches I wounder weather you can fit 17" wheels ( Say 24" OD ) and still have room for 2" of bump.

Real question is what diameter is the rear arches are they about 26"-27" ?

Cheers

I think what you mean is:

What is the radius of the rear arch?

We have 16" wheels and 195/45 section tyres. This gives a rolling diameter of approximately 580mm. However, with 17" wheels the corresponding width is wider. Therefore, with a typical ET35 offset it may catch the lip of the arch instead of going inside the arch. Also, it could be a problem with protrusion from arch for SVA.

It's also very widely accepted that fitting 17" wheel/tyre combination gives very little sign of loosing grip, instead it just 'goes' with little or no warning, especially in the wet! (but that's not what you asked - sorry!)

Just to clear things up here, I'm not building a Seven, but a Locost Mini. It has locost front Sus, and a De Dion Rear Sus, running a Mid-Engined Turbo Hayabusa. I'm presently building the Tube frame then what's left of the Mini Body will bolt onto the frame. The Body is 7" lower than a normal mini, and 10" wider. So I need some arches to cover the wheels.

Check out my Photo's
You see what I'm getting at now, I might use 2 set's of rear arches to bond to the shell for all the wheels, but I still want to have 2" travel in bump, so need about 26" Diameter.

Interesting project - how much do those bits of Mini weigh?

Sorry, can't help on wheels/arches.

Normal Mini is about 710 Kgs depending on model etc. The Z cars R1 Mini is 575 Kgs, but I'm chopping alot more of the mini panels out ( complete floor, front bulkhead, front subframe etc) and have a Composit roof skin so hope to still be 600 Kgs or less even with a Turbo and Charge cooler kit. 550 would be nice but I wont know until it's finished.
