is cling film attacked by polyester resin?
I want to make cycle wing buck to take a grp mould from. I'll be painting the final parts so a super glossy finish isn't necessary. If I
stretch cling film over the buck and lay the GRP up on that, will it attack the cling film?

Dunno mate. I used to make a lot of GRP moulds and I always used Tinfoil.

i don't think it is... parcel tape isn't though, but either way you'll end up with a rough finish

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

surely you could do a little experiment?
Get a bit of cling film, a couple drop of polyester resin, leave for a while and see what it does?

think there are a few different types of cling film as some ok in microwave and some not so worth a trial first. I used it ok to wrap a blind expanded
foam plug before fiberglassing all aroung it and then cutting it out. only issue was the film seemed to slacken its grip eg did not cling and went
slack leading to rigdes in the finished fiberglass. cou can also get special fibreglass resistance mould release film but its not clingy

I have used many types of clingfilm... waitrose and summerfield and neither appear to be bothered by Polyester resin... I have not tried Epoxy!

I put cling flim against my bodywork and made up the gap in my wings against it, pulls off easily and leaves a silk smooth finish
