Build Update

Well... thought i'd share this summer's progress on my locost. The bodywork is almost complete, and i'm loving the way its looking so far!

The car was like this on the 1st of August:

August 2010
August 2010

And its like this now

September 2010-1
September 2010-1

September 2010-2
September 2010-2

September 2010-4
September 2010-4

I had to widen the nosecone and scuttle to fit my chassis, and it was a relatively easy job... the rear panel was tricky but nothing too hard and the side panels were actually a bit fun to put on....but the most difficult and frustrating part BY FAR has been the bonnet... it just looks pants and I cant get it to look right

Now its getting difficult to plan what to do next! i'm kind of stuck electrics must come last.. so i guess i'll get the bodywork details finished (bonnet scoop, louvres and interior) and then i'll get into crimping wires...

any opinions welcome...

ATB

Mmm, agree about the bonnet not looking right so its either a large bulge Linky fitted over the top or lower the engine (new mounts) and remake the bonnet.

What was the reason for putting the engine that high, do your roads have large speedhumps etc?

Personally I'd move the filler to the rear and stick on a small bulge.

Cheers

Rich

putting a pinto in a locost is not easy..

i have used GTS Panther body work on my locost.

still had to fit small bulge on bonnet

with alloy sump still only got 60mm ground clearance.

thanks

the engine is mounted quite high, but our speedbumps are also extremely high too... i'm planning to modify the camshaft cover to have the oil filler at the back and i just bought a bulge from ebay (Linky). The bulge is only 6cm tall which is enough, but is over 50cm long so it will cover almost half the bonnet

I'm with Richard on this one, move the oil filler and fit a fairing over the rest.

Looking good though.
