Rear Disc Brakes
I 'm trying to find a set of rear calipers from a Sierra or Scorpio for a good price, but that is not easy.
Last week I was reading the Kitcar magazine and there was a test from a Westfield with a Duratec engine.
In the test they mentoined that Westfiled uses VW/Audi rear calipers.
A search on e-bay did give me good choose of these calipers.
Is there anybody that uses these or is planning to do so.
I'm looking for some extra info before I buy a set.

Not on a Locost but I've got some on the rear of my Mk1 Escort. If you are using an Escort/Cortina/Capri axle I can send you a template for the
mounting bracket (bolt on). You'll need some solid Fiesta disks and you have to use a banjo for the fluid inlet. Also the halfshaft flange needs
turning down slightly to allow the disks to fit over them.
I've put a picture of the set up on my archive. Sorry about the rust but I nicked the callipers of a car that had been abandoned near a quarry

Well that looks a damn sight easier than the practical performance car rear disk brake set up for a live axle , I would be very gratefull if you could
email me the template also if its no problem Tblue .

I think the Duratec Westfield uses Golf ALLOY rear calipers for weight reduction. Don't have a piccie though. You could try posting something on
the Westfield Club forum. http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk

For approx' 4-6 years all VW/Audi rear calipers have had an Aluminium alloy body on a cast iron bracket with a built in handbrake lever.
They are available in many different bore sizes from 34mm on the Polo to 41mm on the higher performance Golf models.

Joao, A banjo, or more correctly a "banjo fitting" is a right angle fitting, the piece on the end of the brake pipe is a hollow ring
through which a threaded stud screws into the hole in the caliper. The stud is drilled part of its length & then cross drilled to take the brake
fluid as it comes thru the hollow ring. Sorry, lousy explanation but I know what I mean! Cheers, Steve.

Honda/Rover rear calipers are also worth a look -- self adjuster works better than he ones on Fords.
I can never remember honda model names because they keep moving them up the size range - over here it is the Concerto really a Civic 4 door saloon

Hey Avon i got those exact calipers for £42 each. I also bought the plate from Gts that enables them to attach to, but the holes dont match! Can any1
show me how they fitted the rear calipers on an indy? Cheers every1

The idee is to fit them on an Sierra IRS/Avon rear suspension.
I have seen brackets for sierra calipers, and I can imagen that a bracket for the VW calipers can be done.
One problem left is the Aligment with a sierra rear disc, or like westfield a fiesta MK 4 front disc.

I supose these would let you fit 13s as the only thing stopping them on sierra calipers is the huge handbrake assembley.

When I finally pull my finger out and post the template I'll put one on for the Bendix alloy calliper used on some Citroen cars as well. These
are not as plentyful but worth finding as the weight saving makes them worthwhile. Picture of these in archive as well now.
