more tin-top problems..... x2
first problem - my tin-top (mk1 focus, 1.8 blacktop) has started stalling at the point where its should start to idle (eg when you put your foot on
the clutch as you stop)
I know the idle control valves are a common thing to go wrong, but it actually idles quite well, its just when there is any extra load at all (like
what ever it takes to run the brake servo) as it starts to idle
the seed sensor has been playing up ocasionaly too, but that seems fine for now
any thoughts ?
and the second problem is on my brothers 1.2 Corsa B - aparently it wont go faster than 10mph (but I wont see the car myself untill tomorrow)
anything I should look out for ?

lambda sensor on focus, unplug it see if it does it then

Air leak on the focus. Do a search for "mad mole mondeo " there is loads of info on there about air leaks and blocked egr valves.

Idle &/or EGR valves on the Focus could also be worn cranshaft thrust bearing.
Cosra needs the fault codes and live data looked at my money is on MAP or MAF sensor or asscociated wiring.

I once grounded a sierra estate hard on a large speed bump (when I was young and stupid - didn't brake and went over at around 40mph, well it
was a hire car) and it wouldn't do more than 10mph without stalling after that. Crushed the fuel line apparently. Probably a sensor on a more
modern car.

sorry should have said - he thinks the problem is eletrical/electronic
so from the above I think I'll start with the MAF / MAP sensors once I've checked the basics....

I don't think it has an ERG valve (thankfuly)
would a Idle control thingy show up on a code reader ?

I didn't see one when I had the front exhaust section and all the covers off....

try starting the car and press the brake pedal.
Is the idle ok during this? I seem to recal having a similar problem with our car in Greece once upon a time.
Something to do with the servo and the pipes? I need to ask my mechanic to see if he remembers.

poss breather pipe split on focus, located in inlet manifold , common fault and kept on the shelf at fords for about £15.

Update:
the focus is getting worse 
my money is now on an air leak - I can here a bit of a his coming from somewhere down the back that I don't remember before
I havn't found the source yet, but I don't think its the inlet duct
when I unplug the air flow + air temp sensor (same plug) it seems to sort itself out but idles a bit faster than normal (I assume this is some kind of
limp home mode?) would that fit with an air leak ??
