Beggars
GRR. So I'm walking back to the office, it's pissing down and a beggar goes 'how about you then mate? Feeling generous??'
'No i need to get back to the office' I said - Not that I even need to give him a reason
'Oh cheers, dickhead' he said as I walked on
WTF?! As far as I'm concerned I'm well within my rights to tell this low life scum to f*ck right off for even considering asking me for my
hard earned money, but I treat him like a human being and politely decline, to be answered with that.
He wasn't even a big issue seller or anything, I almost turned on my heels and lamped him one. But figured it's not worth it.
Rant over!
Anyone else come across this?

Really?
I thought all the beggars in the south were from the North.
I don't see many people begging these days. Used to in my Uni days.

I don't think you need to put the fella down any more. He's a homeless begger. Its not like anything he says really matters. Its pretty
clear his decision making skills and opinions are pretty poor

I dont get it, I really dont... we have a fantastic welfare system in this country that pays hansomley those people who wish to sit about doing
nothing all day.
I am not willing to subsidise that payment by throwing more of my hard earned money in their direction.... Really annoys me...

The sad truth is that you don't need much cash to stay in a homeless shelter (usually a couple of quid per day). Heroin and crack meanwhile are
quite expensive. I used to work in a homeless shelter. 5% of the people there were there because everything had gone Pete Tong and they worked their
arse off to get out of the shelter. The rest just used to see it as a cheap place to kip when not out begging or selling the Big Issue in order to
fund their habit.

They do my nut in! Most usually have a house and already claim benefits... and many of them have a very long list of previous convictions!
Thankfully I don't live in my old stomping ground anymore, so I no longer know them all and feel compelled to rant at them!

I did hear a tale, probably an urban myth, about a chap with a ropey looking dog who lived in a nice house with a car, but put on a costume to beg 3
days a week to fund it. The dog obviously to get a bit more sympathy.

I've heard a few like this. I've also bought homeless people the odd pie or pasty etc and I outed the one that refused as a fake (what
genuinely homeless down-and-out is going to refuse a pie?)

There's a Sherlock Holmes story written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle called
"The man with a twisted lip" that was written on that very same story
line in 1891.
Nothing changes...

What always amazes me is how many have a bloody dog!!
If you can't afford a meal how the hell can you feed and home a mutt???
I guess it's a better 'pity' option if they have a poor little doggie
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

I've bought genuinely homeless people (i.e. kipping under bits of cardboard) a hot drink and food a few times and they have always been very
appreciative. Never give them money though - it almost certainly won't be spent on food or shelter.

Errrr, the guy is homeless.
I doubt any of us have anywhere near as many issues or problems as that guy.
I prefer pity to anger.
A lot have mental health issues, so we can't judge them as scroungers nessisarily. It's easy for us to be judgemental and allow
stereotypes to pursued us we are right to treat them as anything other than people going through a really bad time in their life.
