Carbon fibre sheet - Heat resistant
Just trying to tidy up round where the exhaust exits the bodywork at the manifold - originally it got very hot and scorhced my nice shiny bodywork. I
cut a piece of carbon effect sheet 25 x 15cm approx and rounded off the edges and corners etc and made a heat plate so to speak which actually looked
very good.
Unfortunately the heat warped this after a while so want to replace it with a carbon sheet version say 2 or 3mm. Anybody see any problems with this?
I cant see the heat getting to it but thought i would check. Gotta make sure i use the right glue though!
Dont fancy using metal and the carbon goes with the other bits of the car

if that doesn't work then you could go with some black anodised aluminium sheet

just a thought. I have no familiarity with CF except that it looks fast!

Need better resin!
The trouble with most carbon sheet is that it is purely cosmetic and made using polyester resin, good for about 60 degrees C before it starts being
structurally compromised, use vinylester and it’ll tolerate another 10 degrees or so, the high temperature epoxy resins are good for up to around 200
degrees but you’ll struggle to get normal sheet made using these resins but you could do them yourself
