Kit spares wing stays, Cortina subframe.

Hi, I have a Robin Hood S7 with standard a standard Cortina subframe. Will the kit spares wing stays fit? i cant figure it out! i cant see that they will go round the top wishbones. Any pics? Advice?
I know ill need spacers but even an inch or so back from the fixing point i cant see its going to work!

Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is to ring Richard at GBS. He knows most things and as its his web site, he should be able to help you out.

Thanks! Are they the kit spares ones? Will they fit round the standard cortina top wishbones?

GBS is the same as kit spares isn't it? So out of interest are your wishbones custom? Or am I missing something?

Think there is a clue in the original post. It's a standard Cortina front subframe so it has Cortina wishbones

Maybe I didn't make myself clear, as far as I'm aware I have standard cortina wishbones, those in the pic above look nothing like mine...

no they are locost + 2".

They are standard cortina uprights so the pic should give you an idea of how they fit around the upright ?

With et18 185/70/13 wheels I am using 12mm spacers.

Hope thats of some help ?

Thats not my front end but exactly what it looks like. By uprights do you mean the hubs? Sorry for my stupidity, im fairly new to all this!

Thanks in advance.

Ok, gotya. So the wishbones fitted to to yours would they fit mine? Is that the only point of differnce with our subframes? Sorry once again! Ive been on RHOC the last couple of weeks and have learnt nothing! as nobody appears to reply to posts.

Thanks again.

No "book" wishbones wont be a direct swap but it has been done.

All you need to work out is how much room you have around the top ball joint. The upright on mine is the same of yours its just that the tina subframe is much heavier and chunky.

My pic shows how they mount .

Yup, I think it's the chunky part around the ball joint that's the problem, I think from what I've tried sofar lineing it up it's not gonna happen!

Do you know what bolt of bolt on wishbone options I have? If any?

I think I've sussed it out! It's the offset of my wheels! I'd need to spacer the frame back prob an inch further back than in the photo above thus pushing it back onto the thicker part of my top wishbone!
Wheel spacers???!?

Tina's and capri's, mk1+2 escort's ran an ET of around 18~19mm newer cars inclueding the sierra use 35~38mm offset with newer stuff like the focus upto around 40mm.

A set of old school rims maybe better or spacers if you dont want to change the backs aswell.

Last question, is it M8 bolts to hold the stays to the uprights?

yes standard m8, dont go to far through the upright or it will foul the hub. You will see as you wind them through.

A little bit of a hijack, but what rack or mods have you done to achieve the +2"?

wishbones are 2" per side wider to match capri back axle track. Only mod is wider rack extensions.
