Bodywork gurus - Paint systems for metal and plastic bodywork?

I’ve got some panels I need to spray, 2 doors, 2 wings, 4 steel wheels, mirror covers, door handles etc. In the past I’d done the plastic parts with Holts acrylic cans, plastic primer, high build filler primer and then gloss (it’s flat white) and some other panels with 2k white, Upol #11 on the bare metal, then primer and gloss (using an airfed mask etc).

What I need is a compatible system so I can buy primer and gloss to do the lot the same colour, but I need a compatible plastic primer and etch primer to cover the two substrates. Been looking on Ebay but not sure what’s acceptable to use with what!

I’ve got a decent sized compressor and an air fed mask if necessary but 2k doesn’t seem like a clever option, what’s good to use now?

Finally, and I know it’s difficult, but I’d prefer not to be spending an absolute fortune on paint so something mainstream and inexpensive rather than cheap would be great!

Cheers

If you have access to the H+S stuff I would have thought 2K is the answer. I know you used (probably still can?) buy a plasticizer to make it a little bit flexible for plastic panels, but I doubt that got used often. just use a plastic primer?
And if you are not too fussy about the exact colour, there are several shades "off he shelf" at very reasonable prices. Not as good as the mixed to order stuff, but about £50 for 5L.
