Paint Job

Well, after much deliberation, many warnings from one camp and 'it hasn't killed me yet' type conversations, I went for the 2K paint job. Taken as many precautions as I can without actually parting with mucho dollars for an air fed mask and I am still here.

I used a dual carbon filter mask and sealed goggles as well as rubber gauntlets and one-piece disposable suit. Made sure I couldn't smell anything with the mask on (used the wife's nail polish remover - for the service types on here it's a similar way that's used to check your respirator before being dumped in the CS gas chamber ). So anyhow, lots and lots of prep, plenty of fluid loss wearing all that clobber in this heat! But the results so far say it's all been worth it.

I am most definitely a convert to 2K, and will keep my eyes out for a proper air-fed (just to apease the worriers out there) for future paint jobs.

I'll pop a few piccies up if it all turns out OK, if it doesn't then I'll probably hang myself

JB

re the paint, i tend to think, with 2k, what you'll find in many cases (not all!) the painters who now have breathing problems, despite 'always using the proper health and safety gear' us all the gear when spraying, but will quite happily stand over the paint without masks etc when mixing it. i think this tends to be where all the 'you'll die as soon as you think about it' type things come from tbh

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Its cumalative, stays in your bloodstream, your nob might not drop off till youve used it a few times. You may just lose the odd ball for now, plus a few brain cells obviously.
Cheers,
Bob
