Early type Busa Airbox
Hi,
I am looking for an early type Hayabusa airbox, or similar shape and size.
The plan is to modify it to fit my ZX12 Phoenix

Look for a GSXR 750 SRAD type airbox on ebay. the inlet rubbers are the same diameter as Hayabusa and you will pay less for a 750 one rather than
Hayabusa. check out this one

If it can't be fixed with a hammer then its probably an electrical problem.

Thanks cosmick, it was seeing photos of your airbox that got me looking.

always pleased to oblige. You and a few others are now starting to realise the worth of using a proper airbox, not just for noise but for good power
delivery as well. I made a Hayabusa airbox fit an R1 engine by using the base area from an R1 airbox and welding it into the Busa box. it worked a
treat and fitted nicely under the bonnet. I hope you get a bargain if you choose the GSXR 750 type airbox.

cosmick will the 750 airbox be large enough? my throttle bodies with trumpets on measure 350mm from end to end.

Wooh, I have just measured a spare 750 airbox that I have and it measure 305mm from outside rubber to outside rubber. the airbox overall width is
365mm at the widest part and tapers to 320mm up by the inlet rubbers. So, i think the Kawasaki engine must be a lot wider around the cylinder head and
the spacing between the inlet ports must be wider. I don't think a GSXR 750 or Hayabusa airbox will help, as the spacing of the 750 is identical
to a Hayabusa. Sorry
If it can't be fixed with a hammer then its probably an electrical problem.

still seems bigger than Suzuki but, i have had a look and it might fit your engine. If you look at the photo of the item on ebay that i sent the link
on, you will see that the airbox has a space at one end that is not used. It is at the end with the green sensor in it. This area could accommodate
the wider spacing of the ZX12 if you have the base to the ZX12 airbox, then you could make the hybrid airbox like I did for the R1. There is just
about 330mm in the width at this point.
If it can't be fixed with a hammer then its probably an electrical problem.

I will try and measure some other airboxes to get the best fit.
