Fixing nose grill

At the moment my nose grill is held on by 4 blocks, equally spaced on the inside of the nose cone, grill placed against them and bolted through into the blocks.

The other day i took my car for its first drive and when i pulled back onto the drive i noticed the grill rattled quite loudly over bumps as it vibrated where it isnt directly bolted.

How has everyone else mounted their grill so that it doesnt rattle?

Pete

What type of grill is it? MK or a home made jobbie?

It's a home made thing, quite a fine mesh that I got from B&Q much cheaper than you can buy "air vent mesh" from places like demon thieves

I bent mine round the lip on the nosecone then glued it in place with bodyfiller all round. It holds it nicely in place.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Four holes, one top/bottom and each side and cable tie on.Get the right colour and you don't notice them. Easy to get it nice and tight and rattle free.

my brother did ours, it's mesh from B&Q, used a similar method, instead of block of wood he used aluminium angle and layed the mesh on top and then Araldite (sp?) to hold it on, only been approx. 100 miles with it but there seems to be no problems. Rescued attachment 100_0178.jpg

You could use P40 fiberfglass compound. Place big blobs of the stuff around the inside of the cone, drill a pilot hole and screw through the mesh with small self-tappers. Don't think it'll go anywhere and you can put in as many fixings as you like.

A bit of slapstick never hurt anyone.

Mesh and PU Adhesive.

From inside the nose cone - bend mesh around the outside lip of the cowl.

PU Adhesive all the way around secures it wonderfully!
