cutting/making windscreens?
i need to get some flat glass cut for my car as there are no supplyers that make glass for my car.
this is not a problem im just looking at the best options for ease and cost and how to go about dooing it
i read getting a windscreen maker to make you a new bespoke one is quiet expensive so im intersted in how too's and look into the
alternatives
1. I hear you can waterjet cut a new screen from a production car anyone actualy done this?
2. i have seen the score,cut and lighter fuel method how possible is this as an option?
3. dimond abrasives and powertools does it work?
4. are there any other options
also what cars had flat laminated glass that would be sutable to use i know pandas and renult4 had flat glass

Try your local windscreen people, Autoglass just cut me one for a Dyane from a sheet, it was a few years ago though.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

Same for me, I just brought in a MDF template and they cut round it, ask them to make sure the glass kite mark is still visible to show MOT testers
that it is laminated and not just plate glass, iirc this is a requirement for the test

One of those mobile winscreen blokes did mine for me out of a Landy screen and he kept the logo on it as well. Think it cost eighty squids.

I asked Autoglass when I needed a screen for my Caterham frame and they quoted about £300 iirc. I got a screen cut in 4mm laminate from my local glass
cutters for £35 in the end, but it wasn't kite marked.

well local autowindscreens dont cut screens anymore and thay also dont make any of thair own screens anymore here in the uk so thay can't make
me one. everything is now bought in.
spoke to a local waterjet cutters and thay can cut glass and laminated glass but you cant cut toughened glass on a waterjet so according to them you
cant waterjet cut windscreens
