Luego Side Panels

Has anybody fitted these items? If so, what are your comments, on fit & general quality?

TIA

The ones I've seen look great, the only reason I didn't fit them is because they're flush with the chassis as opposed to the nosecone.

Thanks Guys,

Have just returned from Luego. Panels now stashed in lock-up. Looking forward to fitting 'em.
Grant & the other blokes all very helpful. Noticed they were busy, seemed to have fair volume of work. Good to see that.

Just 1 more question :-
Is it better to install engine + gearbox before fitting ally panels, or can you still slide eng+gbox in place AFTER rivetting panels in place?

TIA
Dick

don't know the specifics of a luego, but i'd say final fastening of the panels should be left til one of the last things to do.

if you put them on first, youll always struggle to get to something or other. I'm assuming you're fairly early on in the build as you're just slotting the engine in etc.
have you run all the loom?, trial fitted seats, seatbelts, pedals?

don't mean to sound patronising, but it'll be a right c*nt if not

i have not got to the panneling stage yet Dick but i have a road going 7 already and have owned / worked on it for the last 4 years and the number of times i have been doing something and wished i could take the seides / floor off to do it was amazing.

As such i would trial fit them and then do your pedals, brake lines, wiring, seats prop, engine install, exhaust fitting, fuel tank, rollbar before fitting all the pannels permanently. Good luck.

Down load Luego's build manual from their website, even if you are not building one of their kits you may find it very usefull . Cheers .Rusty .

Dick,

I'd agree with the others- panels after engine. They'll only get knackered/scratched while you work on it otherwise.

Thanks All.

Reason I asked this Q, is down to Ron's book. He seemed to suggest that it would be necessary to keep the chassis as free from additional weight as possible. That way, it would be easier to turn it over, to rivet the lower edge of the panels.

Think I'll get all the major items in place before fixing these panels, as you suggested.

I have a copy of the luego manual, and its on their site as well.

Its getting the order of things right that matters, or you will take bits off to get other bits on.

Like the first panel to fit acordings to St Luigi Viento is the drivers left side inner panel, as you cant drill the holes after you have fitted the pedal box. Its small things like that that make the difference. Why fit and re-fit an item, when if you had the right sequence of events, you can save yourself a lot of unnecessary work.

Agreed.

So I've discovered!! Build sequence seems to bear no similarity to the 'book' version. Will check out the Luego suggestion.
