Recommend a body work man / sprayer?

Hi all.

I'm on with a project motorcycle at the moment (1980 BMW R100 T) and it's in need of a bit of paint work. Most of the bodywork is fine as it is (nowt perfect, but everything is equally as aged and in good condition as the rest of the bike). The fuel tank had a bit of corrosion, causing a small leak under the original paint and the finish has peeled off.

I have a spare set of bodywork and am looking to get it sprayed up, along with a fairing too.

Can anyone make any recommendations? I'm in York, but guess I could courrier to anywhere so all recommendations welcome.

I don't want to pay top dollar (who does though?) but am not looking for a concours finish either, just something that will get it all looking 'right'. It has a bit of pin striping too, but I'd settle for vinyl strips rather than have the hand painted stripes as per the original which will save a bit of cost, and I could do all the prep myself too.

Another option might be to go with a non standard colour on the spare bodywork, just to get it all uniform for now, then save up for a top notch spray job at a later date.

Cheers,

Steve.

Hi Steve

You could try Colour Crazy at Wheldrake

http://colourcrazyrespraysltd.co.uk

I had some 'Blade panels sprayed there years ago - did a fantastic job, can't remember what they were like on price.

Might be worth a ride out to see them.

Cheers Rob, I'll give them a shout after the bank holiday and see what they say.

I might give a few body shops a call too and see if I can get them to give me a cheap price to paint everything up in a uniform colour the same as something else they're painting - they must always be doing something in white or silver.

Unless anyone on here has the kit, ability and willingness in exchange for some beer tokens (or just some money)?

Hmmm, he wants £960 to paint a tank and two mud guards...

I might have to find an alternative
