Dzus?
bonnet fasteners - im not a big fan of the rummer SVA catch things, and like the look of dzus jobbies, but from reading previous posts, they have a
habbit of coming undone - which i can imagine while on motorway, the last thing you want is your engine on show!
can anyone reccommend any alternatives - liiked at PROTEX but they only seem to do sticky out things, and im after some flush fitting ones.
cheers guys

hello tom ,i have my nose cone and bonnet held on with "camloc" fasteners.i know they are not the cheapest option .i can vouch for their
reliability as they are used widely in the aircraft industry for quick release panels on engines etc.

Not cheap, but the Westfield parts departement will sell you some lockable fasteners that fit flush.

Exactly.
That's how I got the 4 I needed, totally F.O.C. totally locost.

I have used a lot of Dzus products and have never had a failure or bad experience with them.
According to the latest Protex catalogue which I have open in front of me, they make a catch specifically for closing and holding body panels (they
even illustrate one attached to a swoopy looking black and silver race car). They call it their "CatchBolt" and it's also
illustrated sitting in a recessed dish for flush mounting. I'd give them a call, as it's not clear from the catalogue if they actually
sell the recessed parts (though there are dimensioned drawings of them).
Or, give Southco a call. I fear the Locost movement may put them out of business or at least make them more discerning with their handouts.
Cheers, Rorty.

We use Dzus and Camloc fasteners daily, (aircraft industry). I have seen failures in both designs but very infrequently. Assuming you are using more
than one fastener to retain your bonnet you will have no problem with either system.
In my opinion the more robust design is the Camloc, which is available countersunk, as is the Dzus.

which one of the southco fittings did you guys use? the bigger one (c7-20) or the smaller one (c7-10)?
If that makes sense.

My dzus fittings seem to be ok,i think it depends on how tight you fit them.

Shame on you bob, you should have used countersunk rivets to mount your Dzus.
Cheers, Rorty.

The funny thing is i never knew you could get countersunk rivets the ones i used are blind and are pretty smooth (not a prob at SVA then) but yes if
i had known about the countersunk i'd probably have ordered some.
I'll have to fit a new bonnet when i go zetec so maybe i'll do them a bit different then.
