Locost Nose Cone Location
I'm starting on fixing the bodywork on my locost. In order to clear the (polo) rad the previous owner had cut a rough hole in the nose cone and
put a plate over it.
I've been looking at how to fix this and I could simply blend a nice bulge in but I notice the nose is quite far forward. Should it contact the
chassis?
It's that far forward because of the rad location, which is there to clear the bottom hose off the polo rad.
Should I move it back and use an elbow on the rad?
Thanks.

That radiator looks huge, unless you have a supercharged V8 in there may I suggest this VW polo radiator (£29 on ebay)
If it ain't broken, fix it anyway (just because).

My Locost has the cooling fan on the front, not behind as yours. That has pushed your rad too far forward I think. If memory serves me well the top of
my radiator (Escort) is actually touching the chassis top cross rail.

I would start again. Remove the rad and associated brackets. Fit the nose cone where it should be (against chassis). Buy a radiator that fits. It
will still be a tight fit but it is possible. Being the nose cone is so far forward does the bonnet fit?

Cheers. I will have a measure. I thought it was a polo rad. Maybe it just looks bigger in pictures.

The bonnet fits but it's a bit of a mess. I will be replacing it soon.

It is a polo rad. These are the dimensions
If only my phone made everything look big in photos...

OMFG that bottom hose set up is a right bodge!
Can't believe they have ruined the nose cone to make a rad fit.

The list of bodges is amazing. At least this one isn't life threatening. The roll cage held together with filler and no panhard rod are both
highlights.

I cut the brackets off but every position the radiator was in seemed to be a compromise so I have compromised money and ordered a 3 core aluminium
civic radiator which should fit much better. It will also support the fitting of an intercooler at a later date. Thanks for the help.
