megasquirt help wanted, car stalling
hi guys,
problem goes like this.
i did a trackday last weekend, after about 4/5-ish laps. oil temperature around 120°C the car suddenly stalled for a little while. then everything
back to normal again... and so on and so on.
i let the car cool down. i go out again and again it takes about 4 laps for the problem to happen.
i then did a logging when driving and it seems at a certain point the megasquirt just shuts down the injector pulse width...
no particular point in the TPS, rpm signal is good. i did see water temperature go to 111°c dont know if it might do that to protect the engine or
something? i see it around 111 more often in the logging and ther's no problem them... i can't seem to find any setting of possible engine
protection
i must say, sometimes when warming up it does just the same thing, i keep the revs around 2500 rpm for a while after a cold start. and sometimes it
stalls just in the same way, so that would not be temperature related...
i'd upload the logging but i can't seem to find an option to do that on here?

I had a very similar thing with mine, after fitting new ECU found the problem to be a loose wire on fuse box. The fuse fed the injectors and the coil
pack so did not register as a reset when data logging. Its worth checking every wire connection first

and did thid also show as a complete shutoff of the injectors pulse?
thanks for your reply! i'll check wiring tonight!

Use Dropbox and upload a copy of your tune and logs and I'll have a nosey round see if I can spot anything

111 deg water and 120 deg oil is pretty high. Maybe need to look at the cooling on your car?

i know cooling is a bit of an issue. i'm looking into it :-)
here's some dropbox files it think, if i'm using this correctly
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mhy4josm46ys4jx/clastres%20snokken.msl?dl=0 this should be the logging
and this should be the current tune

Pulse width dropped for a split second then came back on, engine gave a loud bang from exhaust and then ran fine until i went into boost.
What variation of Megasquirt are you using, MS1-2 or3. Where abouts in the country are you

oh yeah the problem is very visible around 502sec. in the logging by the way.
i'm from belgium, from lokeren :-)
i'm using KDFI, it's a copy of megasquirt, needs little tweaks to get it to run 5v signal to a VW wasted spark coil, other then that
it's a nice little thingy :-) it's same as ms2 and using 3.2.5extra firmware i think from what i can tell

Sorry but I can't/won't support someone using an unlicensed clone.

and i'll respect that, thanks for offering your help anyway! :-)
i came to kdfi this way,
a friend of mine was helping me out when i was having troubles with my ms1 not responding to changes in the VE table, and we were 2days from race day
and i was trying to fix this problem for 2weeks and wasn't getting anywhere. so he offered me the KDFI. for a price i couldn't argue with.
i didn't hesitate to buy it since i've had a lot of trouble with my ms1 in the couple of years i drove it and i was quite happy with the
thought of having a system that worked the way it was ment to. and i must say that i'm positively surprised by the KDFI.
i aranged the kdfi to the wiring loom next day, and made it to the race day on sunday and put down an amazing result for the first time driving my new
engine and a new management. so i'm happy with it.
it's a sad thing if it is indeed an unlicensed copy, but it saved my weekend and it is still going strong. so i can't complain, except for
this current issue then, but i dont think it's ecu related :-)

Check your coolant temp related adjustments, it's possible you have something going out of range when a multiplier is applied (i.e. fuel table
at 250, multiplier at 1.1 = 250*1.1 = >255 so value wraps to 0. Can't remember the MS2 code to save my life, long time since I worked on
it.
As mentioned though, really isn't good to be not supporting the good work and efforts that have gone into the MS community.

i checked the wiring, found a ground that was loose, but it was for controlling the relay from the lighting i think. i'll look into it tomorrow
what it's used for.
i also gave the injectors a different 12v line. straight from the fusebox this time, not wired in with others.
upcomming Sunday is raceday. let's hope i'll be able to tell if this fixed the problem

Your log file uncovered a bug in the date handling of my logviewer site https://scudderfish.github.io/LogViewer/ Thanks Your PW is going to zero,
that isn't a dodgy wire to the injectors (although you may have one), the log file contains what the ECU is commanding the injectors to do, not
what it is measuring the injectors doing. Something in your set up is doing this.

Thanks scudderfish. I checked the relay which had a loose ground wire and it was the one supplying the ecu with power!
I'm really hoping this fixed my problem although i would expect so see something else then just a pwm drop when power suply drops.
Anyhow, sunday is race day. I'll keep you guys updated :-)

so i haven't had the problem when racing. didn't do a trackday yet only a slalom.
but i did have the problem when warming up the engine from a cold start...
i keep it around 2500rpm and the rpm's drop to stationairy, the engine never dies. that's the strange thing about it. so it must be
something in the software as mentioned above, but i can't really think of what.
anyone please willing to take a look?
thanks

nevermind.
i think i found my problem in over run fuel cut.
doesn't quite explain the problem when warming up though
