Boot box lid with double helmet bulge?
Hi,
Had an idea to make a boot box lid from Carbon but with twin bulges (Jordan style!), foam padded underneath so that I can put two helmets in the
bootbox, dry safe and not able to rattle. I have a friend who will produce the carbon fibre for me but he needs a suitable mould. What is the best way
of doing this?
Many thanks,
Steve

Ask Jordan to come round and lie in the boot area!
Seriously though... maybe tape some foam temporarily onto the helmets to allow extra space for the foam once in use, then papier mache over the top?
Presumably you will have a flat boot lid with the bubble in, so it will be a question of working out the position of the bubbles heightwise, etc.

Or
A couple of big balloons.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

you could buy a blow moulded acrylic hemisphere. Or use a large hard plastic ball and cut it in half.
Or you could get some insulation foam sheets from builders merchants, laminate it together then shape it with sandpaper etc to the desired shape. Then
you can car filler it and sand until smooth, this will give you a male mould.

Many thanks for the suggestions they are useful. Do you think a firm pair of melons may be up to the job?!

I s'pose it depends how close they are in size to the helmets
