side panel s " again "

just starting out on making the side panels for my 442
any hints and tips would be welcome
especialy around the bones and rack area

hey im nearly on 200 posts





when you start this journey
you think it will be done in " no " time but then " no " turns into a " bloody " long time

Get a big sheet of card, and make a pattern out of it. Trim it back until you get the shape you want, make big holes round the bones and glue card back on the get the shape right.

When you've finished you can tape the pattern onto the ali sheet and cut it out.

I spent many an evening dremmelling my fiberglass side panels. Once I had the shape I liked I just copied it onto the other panel.

To get a really nice finish you could use a hole cutter like calvinx has done and then smooth it down. Works a treat for fiberglass, might need to be a little more careful on ally.

when i made mine out of ally i took exact measurments and angles , marrked them all down on 18mm mdf , cut , then formed the ally round , worked a treat , and fitted first time . hope this helps , i know its a little late .
