Two piece bonnet
Hi,
As I am a tight git and have several part sheets of ali left I thought I might make a 2 part bonnet. I posed this question a while ago and the piano
hinge was one suggestion - that might be the way I'll go.
I just wondered if anyone had any other bright ideas for a tidy permanent join. How about a set of louvres running down the centre?

I think the piano hinge is the only option - the louvre idea wouldn't have enough strength imo.
Cheers,

When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

The piano hinge is clasic and looks the vintage bit as well. Very hard to beat. Very tricky if you have a bonnet bump or scoop though.

what, like this?
Alan Bs Jen and my new bonnet
just goes to show the quality of workmanship in this car imho, they had to make a new bonnet half when they went from teh single carb to sidedraughts
and needed the beat the bulge into the sheet constructed bonnet for clearance..
Ned.
beware, I've got yellow skin

No my problem will be the bump in the middle of the bonnet. May go with the piano hinge but with center suports so that it will be two hinges in
line with each other and a shaker style hood scoop like the original mach one mustangs.
