16g half hard same as in the book. We used some thinner stuff on a mates car but it rippled every time he touched it. You couldn't rub it
without denting it.
yours, Pete.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

PS
make sure you get the right grade of alu or it will be hard to bend and shape.

One of those useless things that catch my attention...

i used 1mm 20swg for all panels. I found that it was great to work with and saves a lot of weight.

used 1.2mm stuff from my local fabrication firm, cuts easily with a jigsaw and is solid too.

Chassis stiffness for me !
I'll be using Ali for the side panels but for the seat back I've welded in 20 swg, bit heavier but a lot more solid and I think (hope) it
will help stop the chassis twisting. Looking at the book, Riveted Ali looks a bit flimsy. I've also done the front end mods i.e. v brace, welded
front bottom panel and triangulating the very front part of the chassis (forget the tube letters). I will also weld in 20 swg for the sides of the
tunnel.
This (hopefully) will give me a stiffer chassis for not much weight.
Engine is a 1300 standard xflow - may not be as fast / quick as others but cornering is the thrill for me. 40 round a 90 is probably better than 100
round a 120 (and a bit safer)
I'm no expert, just my way of thinking. I'm sure you'll point out the error of my ways !
Great forum, learnt lots, need to learn more.
