cycle wings

just about to mount mine but was wondering if there is any issue with sva, i want mine close to the tyre. As long as it isn't touching the tyre will i be ok? Anybody had any experience?

all you need to do is ensure that the wheel itself is covered when viewd from abouve - doesnl;t matter about the tyre.

obviosul they need to be secure, not foul brake lines and should contact the tyres or wheels.

cheers thats great, just what i needed to know! On with the wings, i'm nearly finished! just cant get it bloody started though went to bogg bros yesterday, great fellas!

You DO need to cover the side of the tyre, from above. The tester will use a big set square to see if any part of the tyre isn't covered. I had to "adjust" my camber to meet this requirement, whilst maintaining an amount of self centreing.

Front to back, the front needs to extend forward beyond the metal of the wheel and at the back the cycle wing needs to extend downward past the centreline of the wheel.

As regards being close to the wheel, you can be as close as you dare, but remember, the cycle wing will vibrate and will touch the tyre if it is too close. At best it is annoying and at worst it'll speed up the breakage of the bracketry.

In reality the cycle wing needs to be as light as possible and the bracketry as stiff as possible - not many are!!
