Polycarbonate (Lexan) Rear and Side panels

Anybody ever attempt to make the rear and side panels from a plastic such as polycarbonate (lexan)?

Same principle as an RC car body, paint the inside to be more scratch resistant. Might be easier to bend, too.

I always thought that Polycarb wasn't very scratch resistant at all... very soft material isn't it?

Very soft and very lightweight - it's a good principle IMO.

The paint finish is excellent too no matter what your skill level, as the mistakes can't be seen from the outside (my old RC cars look greta on the outside, the you look inside the shell and see the truth!)

You'd have to be prepared to replace them fairly regularly though as I don't think they'd last too long under road conditions. You'd probably have to come up with some form of heat shield to protect it from the exhaust too!
