(Another!) new wind deflector
I previously made some flat-to-the-body Lexan wind deflectors which only served to deflect the wind more into me!
I then made some doors out of ali and Lexan, which keep the arm area very toasty in winter, but do cause a bit of extra wind over the top.
So, for summer use mainly, my latest effort is a driver's side only angled Lexan wind deflector:
1. Template made from card
2. Lexan cut to shape
3. Fold lines heated with hot air stripper, Lexan folded (including a bumper stop at the back to stop it foldeing in flush to the body).
4. Lift off hinges bolted on.
Result: keeps the wind of the face a treat, and looks... well, interesting and different, I like to think!
I overcooked the folds a bit, causing some bubbling of the Lexan, but it's not too

I might have to definately copy them!!!
Where did you get the lexan from? Was it expensive?

PS how does the deflector attach to the side of the car? Or is it just held in place by the windflow... I wondered about putting some magnetic
adhesive strip which would obviously be attracted to the steel chassis rail...

Nice job!
What method did you use to heat it, to enable you to bend it?
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Various answers:
Lexan was left over from an offcut I got from my local glazing company to make a replacement window for one of my doors. It wsa only a few quid,
nothing like the cost of a large sheet... if you've got a company ike that near you, go and beg: "I'm building a car, done it
myself, it's called a Locost (hint! hint!). They probably have small offcusts that they can't sell, so would let you have it for nothing
or not much.
I have put some sticky-backed Velcro on over the side rail to stop the deflector flying open on lefthanders or under braking
Heated with a hot air paint stripper

Good stuff lexan
what did you use as a former to do those nice corners on the main part of the screen? and how hot did you have to get it before you could bend it?
Cheers
