OK, fair enough.

But, a couple of light hearted questions.

How much does your own labour cost ?

On materials, is there or more or less in this car than would have bought a kit that someone else made for you ?

Which one would you rather have ?

This or a plastic fantastic ?

(Mine is very plastic and most definitely not fantastic).

Paul is making a fantastic job of his car it takes me back from when I made mine as for the cost of the aluminium against the fibre glass the ali would cost maximum of £150 as for the labour as with all of the locost inspired cars they are a labour of love and not a profit making car.

You have to consider the labour as being free.

It's a hobby, not a job of work.

Thanks Chaps for your kind comments.

I don't really know what else to say....

other than that you are absolutely right Zilspeed, building the car IS my hobby.
Doesn't matter how long it takes, in fact when it's finished, I will be just a bit sad.

I've had loads of help along the way, and made what I hope are many life long friends, mostly thanks to this site.

There's nothing on the car that any one of you couldn't have done, given the same help and advice that I have had,
and some no doubt could do much better. It has many faults that the pics don't show up, but it IS mine... a one off.

Top job 907. Labour of love it may be, but worth every hr and penny it definatelly is.

Not to hijack or anything, but 250 pounds is POSSIBLE, just not likely. It was to give school kids something to aim for, knowing they haven't got any money. Nowadays, the parents just go buy them a Caterham.

For those that can't build to this standard - keep going guys!!! you'll feel just as proud with what you've achieved when it first starts, moves, gets registered etc etc etc..............you'll never really finish it though!

It`s just a thing of beauty really. Reminds me a bit when I was rebuilding a Landrover bulkhead. I then stumbled on a collectors Bentley about 1950s. Looking at the Bulkhead ........it was aluminium and a masterpiece compared to the Landy one that Iwas building....

From the picture it must be getting very close to SVA.

As for finished, are they ever? and if they are there's always the next project whether it's another 7, a classic replica a GT40 bashed out of ally or something else completely.

Yes, really well done Paul, your workmanship is jaw droppingly awesome. So much care and thought has been put into every aspect of the build and the result is truly stunning.

I would like to add my agreement to your comments about the help and the really good people on this site. I have asked inumerable obscure questions here and answers have always come back amazingly quickly.

I must thank Trev D in particular for his patience and the considerable help he has given me on metal shaping techniques. My radiator grille is one example and a second is the way to make aluminium trim to cover raw edges of fibreglass etc. I very much like the way he has edged his screen and I have just done the same and once polished, I think the result will be quite good.

So thank you, all of you.
