What to do about my hole?

Having ditched my standard carb in favour of twin 40's I need ideas of what to do with the hole in the bonnet.

I bought a bonnet scoop of ebay but it was crap quality and looked hideous so I binned it.

I'm hoping I might keep the carbs in the bonnet without cutting a hole in the side so would like to use the hole as a source of nice cold fresh air.

Any ideas or pictures gratefully received.

Hole?
Hole?

I see the titles are going down hill again.

Go to a scrappy, many modern cars have scoops these days.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yep mesh is one option and will probably look OK when painted. How did you fasten it?

I might also hunt around the scappy too to see what might suit.

Is it a steel bonnet? If so can't you plate under the hole and then fill it in. Maybe lead load & file?

you could make a curved scoop out of ali, curved in only one plane (i.e. like a section out of a cone shape)... like mine only you could make yours smaller.

hole in bonnet for twin side draught is a goo idea so don't be put off making a hole.

If you are painting your bonnet, then you could pu an aluminium ring that overlaps the hole and another piece to fill the hole, filler and sand.

I had hole in my bonnet - see photo artchive and just attached a piece of aluminium.

Im not a fan of 'power bulges' and bonnet scoops (although i understand sometimes its the only way) and im not a filled patch would stay inplace, depending on how much the bonnet flexes etc.
- Personally i would go for wiremesh, coloured to match, stuck on with sealent/adhasive.
- Then if you find thats not enough cooling, add a slimish 4inch fan behind it, lol.

Make a reverse scoop (one that goes downwards) and use it as a nice cup holder when you are at the shows. Stops getting grass etc in your drink when you put a cup down.

Probs wont look too bad with a round cover over the top and some stainless screws to hold it down.
