Fitting rear wings.
I am having a problem getting my rear wings to fit. I bought a pair of seconds from Stuart Taylor having been told that they were ok but needed
painting as the finish was not perfect, when i have come to fit them i have found that the nearside one is a reasonable fit , but i have a gap that i
can put my hand in between the drivers side and the rear ally panel.
I have just spoken to Ian Gray and he told me that the way to fit them is by attaching to the alloy panel before securing the panel to the car.He said
that they fit all theres in that manner but I dont see how the rear panel would fit correctly or look right following this method, it sounds like
bullshit to me.I dont want to remove my neatly fitted rear panel just to try so what do others think?.
The only option I can see short of persuading him to change the wing is to modify it by cutting and reglassing or build an extra bit on.
I could always modify it to suit and then take a mould of of it and produce some to sell to cover my expense.

I had a similar problem with a plastic rear panel, it was taller at the edges but dipped down in the middle.
Taking a mould is a load of trouble and expensive. Is it the fault of the panel not being square or is there a step in the chassis line? If it is
the panel then perhaps you should buy another one.
I need one considerably wider than the standard type and was intending to extend a second/original any way, I just haven’t bought one yet. If you
wanted to recoup your cost of that panel by selling it to me then you could buy one that fits and I could start my wide arches.
By the way you don’t have any Fiat twin cam bell housings do you???

I just succumbed to temptation and attacked it with a disk grinder, ground away a lot of the mounting flange and it almost fits now. All i have to do
is glass on a new part to the flange and add a bit of filler, the gelcoat suffered a bit though i will need to fix a few cracks.
I dont know of any Twincam adaptors or boxes but at one time i was going to fit an Alfa twincam with a ford box. What i intended to do was make two
plates to fit the gearbox face and the engine flanges, align the centres and space out at the correct distance and then fill the space between by
welding in sheet metal effectively forming a steel bellhousing. However a fireblade engine came my way so i shelved the idea, am presently using a 1600
crossflow to get the car registered with .
