tin top bodywork - i made a boo boo
i parked my car this morning through someone elses, in work's car park. don't really know how it transpired but obviously i wasn't
paying enough attention. i've just started and had a million and one things on my mind.
i'm mainly after anyone experienced in professional bodywork repair to give me some sort of idea of how much it'll cost to put right.
it's a 96-97ish honda civic estate but it's painted in what looks to be a pearlescent dark purple.
can it be cleaned up and sprayed in or is it a full side of the car job? i was hoping to keep it away from any insurance companies if i could.
the guy that owns it sounds pleasant enough. luckily he's off on holiday tomorrow and is happy to leave it a fortnight before he's back.
i'll have been paid by then at least i guess. he doesn't want to make it silly money either, just wants it fixing.

Looks like it could be popped out from the inside and polished out.....

To much of a crease near the B pillar to pop out.
Try Ebay for a door,Otherwise they could paint both bottom halfs of front and back door and hide the blow in under the rub strips

Could be repaired by a good panel beater but the cheaper option would be to get a door from a scrappy and pay to have the door painted and the blowins
on the front door and quarter panel done. Pretty easy to change a door on a honda. All bolt on stuff.

To be honest, and dont take this the wrong way, with what used cars are worth now, just take the liner off, push it out the best you can, and live
with it till you get rid of the car. Might sound like harsh words but you can easily spend more than the cars worth repairing that.

Ahh yes, write out a hundred times 'must read the full post properly before responding'
Still true though, the cost of a proper repair will be more than the car is worth, looking in autotrader £600 ish is the asking price for similar
cars, unlikely to make £500, and painting a door to match can easily cost that.

Spend the next two weeks finding a secondhand door in the right colour. Then just swap it.

Worth talking to a dent specialist (Chips Away, Dentmaster) near where the guy lives/works. It's amazing what can be done without it being a
full bodyshop job.
Also if it's a big car park maybe you can do a deal with the dent guy promoting his services as most of them prefer doing a number of jobs
rather than one-offs.

i'd considered a new door. i guess it's probably the best way to match the pearlescent colour, but with it being a civic estate, i
don't think they were exactly common even when they were new. on top of that, it's in this funny colour.....so...well...i guess i could
try.
don't really want to add insult to injury disturbing him on holiday about it though so maybe i just have to locate one then go ahead with it if
he's alright with it.
