Russell Brand & Jonathon Ross
Did anyone else hear their radio skit when they left messages on Andrew Sachs (Manuel in Fawlty Towers) personal telephone?
Basically, they were crowing about the fact that Brand had had sex with Sach's 23 year old Granddaughter!
As far as I'm concerned the contents of their messages were sufficient to warrant a Charge under the Telecommunications Act (Obscene Phone
Calls).
How can they get away with it? Sachs, his Daughter and his Granddaughter are all said to be distraught!
I hope Sachs makes a complaint to the Police and these 2 muppets find themselves in Court, and that the BBC gets fined for airing it!
Brand has always been a prize-prick, and I expect nothing less of him (remember he did something similar to Rod Stewart... claiming to have slept with
his daughter).
But Ross??? I used to enjoy his shows as he managed to attract some interesting guests, but his 'style' has been grating on me for some
time now! Is he trying to win an award for rudest, slimiest git on TV?
I am sooo angry with the BBC... wasting mine (and your) money on this type of foul childishness.
Believe me - I am no prude!

Never heard it but from what you say it's downright insulting. As with you I ain't no prude but some things should always remain
private/unsaid.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Interpreting the law is quite a big part of my job and this one is quite interesting. I'm still looking at this but it seems that if you or I
did this as a prank we would be guilty of an offence however, if it is done "in the course of providing a programme service (within the meaning
of the Broadcasting Act 1990)" then it is not an offence under section 43 of the telecommunications act 1984.
That being said - not a very wise thing to do on radio and as much as I find them both v.funny it was rather distasteful, but then I suppose all
comedians over step the line. Billy Connoly and Ken Bigley springs to mind!

Bloody hell... you're right!
I'd never noticed that 'exemption' before!
Another 'law is an ass' example!

I find him quite funny tbh. Maybe a bit over the top - but I don't know the full story - could it have been rigged?
Or had Sachs and Brand had words before?
If you don't like him then don't listen!
Others have said worse...

RUSSELL BRAND IS A GENIUS
Personally I think RB is comedy genius.
I've read his autobiography and it's brilliant- so funny.
Certainly from everything he wrote in that he's very, very straight. He seems to have slept with more women than most of us on LB put
together!
But I certainly wouldn't care if he wasn't.
So they played a childish prank on someone.... frankly who cares!#
Cheers,
James

The point is, (as far as I'm concerned) Jonathan Ross has been paid £18million pounds by the BBC to work for them.
That's a lot of money.
Especially if, for that £18 million quid, we get "entertainment" which consists of childish phone calls to a 78yr-old man bragging about
sh**ing his grandaughter.
We might find it funny, but for someone of that age (Sachs) it was inapropriate.
I like Jonathan Ross, but that isn't what I'd like him to do for my wedge of the licencepayers money...

So, there's comedy in 2 excessively paid luvvies phoning up an elderly celebrity, getting his answering machine and leaving repeated messages
stating that Brand "shagged" his Granddaughter... that it was "lovely"... that she was "bent over"... that
it's OK because he "wore a condom".
STORY LINK
And then it was acceptable for a corporation paid for by the public to air it as 'entertainment' despite the fact that the subject's
concerned stated that they were "horrified"?
Brilliant??? Genius??? I don't think so! Both need their lights punched out...
That's what's wrong with (formerly) Great Britain - standards have slipped into the gutter and no-one will stand up and put it (and
individuals concerned) right!

Perhaps if it was your mother/wife/girlfriend/daugther/granddaughter/sister then you might care.

i must agree ross has gone down a long way IMHO, heard him on the radio the other day being rude to his guests and i didnt think it particularly
funny. This latest incident with Manwell is well out of order. More fool the silly tart for sleeping with the idiot, but how low to brag on radio
about it, and what dreadful manners to leave messages on grandpas answer machine. Id kick him in the teeth on principle.
So to summarise, RB very funny at times but never forget, he's still a lowlife junky. How on earth did he get back on radio after the debacle
regarding reading porn on capital fm whilst having a crack party in the studio?

Both Ross and Brand are very unfunny "comedians". Why on earth would anyone listen to/watch them when there are such better
comedians and comedy out there? :/

thats my opinon too, when you have to resort to stuff like that, or anything like that you are obviously not a good comedian!
They should be able to make you laugh talking about anything, badgers and monkeys spring to mind................
Told my wife about this last night and she was really shocked, want to do more than kick their teeth in! And i agree with her.

10,000+ complaints to the Beeb - I wonder how long they'll keep their jobs...
I can't help but think of Kenny Everett - got sacked from the Beeb for being slightly cheeky about the then transport minister's wife
passing her driving test. How things have changed...

Totaly agree on RB, and whilst I used to find 'Woss' mildy amusing I won't be going out of my way to watch his show again.
I have to admit that Georgina Baillie is quite a fox though

I dont agree with the prank calling but its interesting that some media script says that Ross's wife is good friends with the Sachs family.
Smells a bit like an odd PR stunt.

It might have been funny when you were 16, it's a bit puerile and not really funny when you are grown up which neither of them seem to be. Rossy
is alright in small doses but I don't find Russell amusing in the slightest and I do think my license money could be used to better effect than
paying them their over inflated wages.
