what size water coolant radiator do i need to run a gsxr k8 1000cc engine in my kit car? does the engine need to run at a high temp or cool temp! also can i use alloy tube to extend coolant hoses to the front of my build is this safe to do!
I don't know about the rad but I've heard someone at Thunderroad motorcycles down here had a K8 with an Akrapovic and a Power Commander and
it made 182 at the rear wheel on a RRoad day!
Respect, nice choice of engine!
In answer to your question about temp, my freinds exo thingy has I believe, a K5 in it which runs at about 85 ish, 90-93 on a track day we did last
week, with twin ducted rads mounted on the sides (so not as much air flow as you would get over one flat on in the nose I'd guess) and he seems
to think that's about perfect. Fan cuts in at about 102.
And yes you can use alloy tube, perfectly safe, I and many others, have even used vacuum cleaner hose as it's 32 o.d on some of them which is a
cec coolant hose std size, it's between 1.2 & 1.6 wall thickness depending on what it's off and sure is a cheap way to sort all the link
pipes etc out, I even welded take offs to mine and powder coated them, they look as proffessional as any other solution. You can get smaller O.D too
more suited to bike cooling pipes.

excellent thanks stott. gona get myself to the boot sale this week to see if i can get hold off some ally hoover pipe fingers x!
Goto your recycling centre, I had some for free whan I asked nice. (loads of it!)
I also got loads of the flexi vacuum hose which I used for all my heater ducts, conviniently the same diameter as Mini heater outlets.
Happy days
if i use the rad on that link how is the pressure released if the rad has no presure cap
You can get the ally tube from B+Q. They stock it as TV aerial poles. Plenty of people using it but you need to put some form of bead around the end
to help stop the hoses blowing off.

The advantage of using a header tank is it's easier to get the filler higher than to engine. Rad tends to be low down and a filler there results
in air locks.
