Well I gave up the fight with the DVLA. The WLR is only two years old but still the DVLA sent a TAX demand requiring MOT. Last year I sat in
Chelmsford DVLA for 4 hours getting it sorted but this year I just could not face it. So in spite of the massive cost of an IVA that should have
refunded lots on MOT costs I took it in and it passed without issue.
Odd thing though. No emission test required! Take the CAT off if you want sir makes no difference to the MOT of a Q plated car. Run the engine at full
400BHP track power and Mr. MOT don't car what piles out of the smoke vent.
On the other hand the IVA was very very keen on the CAT and it's associated gas.
This is all very odd! Anyone else experienced this freak of VOSA?
Q plates only need a visual smoke test come MOT time
Do wish VOSA would make it's mind up Bye bye CAT and hello BHP and economy I guess.....

At IVA you didn't have a registration number so VOSA test on engine age
Once registered the Q reg anomaly applies
I've only ever had visible smoke tests on both my 'registered on new plate' kits. I think it just depends on MOT tester knowledge, but I believe all Q plates are visible check.

It's to do with Q plate being of unknown age.
Lovin my Q plate then
Actually Loving the whole car to be honest.
MOT no check of screens or glass coz it ain't got any. Ditto on wipers and washers and no emission test so the nice guys only charged me £50.00
for the test.
The system has my car as a 1972 when the inspector punched in the reg. Guess that's where Q's go in the Database.
Shame the DVLA can't get their bit right to stop the "MOT required" error occurring, folk are not going to be able to argue about it
when they finally close all the DLVA offices. Wonder if they will manage to get it right by then?
Will swap out the CAT at the weekend and see what I can do with the map to get something between track aggression and road manors. Just when I thought
everything was sorted.... as if
Note to self "When finished make sure the GT gets a Q plate!"
The offices are all closed?
£50 doesn't sound like a discount to me, I pay £40 normally.
