very lost. 750volvo estate diff

Ive got my first kit and happy working away but starting to collect parts and looking for a type 9 gearbox and either a prop to suit or one to go with my volvo 750estate rear doner diff/axle it has the male insert but need the female to connect to a uj to be made onto the prop to mate with the type 9 box if anyone has any idea on what im babling about id like help as dont fancy having the parts made as wont be cheap at all as if i can get a volvo or type 9 prop the other bit then i can take them to be made up at propshaft specialists

why not go sierra all the way I think you will have a lot of difficulties to overcome going a none standard route

somewhere like bailey morris, or dunning&fairbank should be able to make a prop to suit your gearbox and axle. contact them and ask them what they can do

ive got 3 tailshafts , take ur pick.....

should have given you one when u picked the car up ........

Volvo sport what shafts you got n how much? ?

Its half way their as got chassi rolling just tidying stuff up for iva (and odd personal touches) and just one off the many items to source and build up, also what items do i need to source when servicing brake callipers as i have the twin pot volvo 750 items and after painting them but wundering if to go all out and strip them to clean and replace seals. Any ideas and opinions?

So are you suggesting we should all go and buy a vauxhall astra or vw golf instead of trying to build a car our selves?

Sam, if the callipers look nice and clean (no rust) and the cylinders move in and out smoothly I wouldn't bother stripping them. Just give them a good look and feel round. And if it aint broken.... Brake callipers are fairly easy items to get to and service if over time they do seize while on the car.

If however the edges around the cylinders or the cylinders themselves are rusty. Or if perhaps the cylinders are very hard to move in and out. Then it would be smart to take them apart, give them a good clean and rebuild. It's a bit fiddly and at times frustrating work, but quite doable. If you have doubts, get someone else to look them over and if needed rebuild.

Cheers aye a simple repaint i thinks in order for the callipers but will have better inspection later this week.
Haha i dont tend to keep it simple and iits already set up n looking good on the volvo bits so ill keep hunting

the twinpot sliding calipers are something of an oddity, being only available on cars with 287mm brakes and 15 inch wheels . ie turbo cars .

youll need to change the pads also , pedal pressure is quite high also , id recomend changing (remaking)that pedal box if you can afford to . its setup for the volvo hydraulic clutch , and wont really suit the type 9 .

Yeah the hunt for 15inch 5stud 108pcd wheels is a challange that or im looking in the wrong places. Ill hunt for some pads when i tidy up the brakes as for the clitch it will be modified as pedalbox is being set back and alterd to suit my picky style, are the pads just volvo 750 or 900type
