tub on with rack in place.

can the tub be fitted with the rack on the chassis.

Yep, and in fact you need to, as you need to be able to cut the holes in it. When we did it, we had the extension arms off the rack, and turned the rack left and right to scribe the marks for the holes.

I couldn't for the life of me work out how to take the rack apart! so i used a bar that sat at the same height as the rack to mark and drill the tub.
turned out fine with a bit of patience

Yes, we fitted the rack first, too and then the tub. Be very careful though, the tub cracks soooo easily. Get three people to put the tub on and dremel everywhere where you see the tiniest of tension. If the tub fits easily and neatly the rack cutouts will be easily - if slowly done...
