Hi all,
Some of you might have seen ive had problems with my R1 and getting it to start. Basically we wired it with all the sensors and made all the usual
connections engine kill, clutch, side stand etc but all we got was the starter turning. A bike mechanic friend had a look but was stumped thinking all
we had done was right and he couldnt see a problem but didnt think we needed to lift the loom as it looked stock. Jim(jim Giblett) kindly gave us a
had yesterday and thought we had a cycle lock as the we had a european loom although there wasnt a connector for it. Jim got us stripping the sheath
thinking something wasnt quite right. Removing the covering the random wires just fell out or they werent even attached to anything at one end! and
those that were, were badly connected or didnt even go to what they should have! Everything is then out easier to trace. We went through every wire
one at a time to work out what was what and made the correct connections which was almost all of it. Jim got us sorted with the starter logic and left
it to us today to finish it. With a bit of a hangover i tackled it again today. by this afternoon i thought we were ready to start. So we go for it
and were finally getting a spart but only one injector going. I sprayed TB cleaner at the base of the injector and filled the injector rail with
injection cleaner. Might not be the best way but i didnt want to remove the TB so connected it all up and this is what happened.

Scared the crap out of me as after evenings of trying i didnt want to get my hopes up and my dad was holding the accelerator almost fully open. Looks
like were still on for making it to SVA Special thanks to Jim for all the help on saturday and to the other locostbuilders who have helped with my
questions recently.
Cheers
Adam
Judging by the blast of smoke that came out when it caught I'd reckon that you injectors are clean!!!
Well done - doesn't look far to go now.
Well done, great feeling aint it
Definitely and especially when we have had so much trouble with it im just glad we can move on with the rest of the build as we have about 2 months left
Yee Haa! Well done lad, get it out for the summer!
Steve
best part of the whole build, crack on

And I know just how good a feeling it is!
Welldone buddy, I like the token fire extinguisher just incase!!!!
Result! Glad you got it sorted.
Are you still grinning? I was for about a week...and I am now just thinking about my first start.

well done if you managed to get that wiring sorted the rest of the build going to be a breize - sound like its running ok anyhow.
Dont rush it and every time you face a problem from now on you know you have the ability to solve it.
Took me nearly a month to sort the wireing on the v8

Well done Adam - We got ours started this weekend as well, hope you're as chuffed as us!
How much more have you got left to do?
Well done, sounds good. Glad you got there in the end.
Thanks for all the comments guys. Definitely was exciting and im still grinning ear to ear the thing was after so many attempts of cranking it over
the last two weeks with no sparks i didnt think anything would happen and was expecting just to get a bit closer as i thought the neat injector
cleaner in the fuel rail was a bit ambitious without removing the rail.
The extinguisher was so close as the attempt before, the car tried to have its revenge with the first massive bang and a flame right on my leg lol
hence the extinguisher, standing well clear and having practised the fire roll.
Agriv8 - we have a PC 3 and have the stock map so just need to tailor an sva map and get the MNR loan cat but if anyone has a base sva map they could
give me i would be most grateful.
Vinny well done il check the vid in a second. Whats left is getting the wiring all tidy as our neat scuttle is no more, finishing the rear lights,
wiring in all the dash switches, gauges and clocks, final fitment of the scuttle, bonnet, interior trim and nose cone, making an exhaust bracket,
mirrors and sva gear within in a minimum of 7-8 weeks - eep!
