will a 3.62 diff be ok in a vort x with 2000 R1 engine on carbs?
yes
thanks steve,I just thought something around 3.38 would be more suited
I think desyboy on the forum switched from a 3.38-3.62 as he prefered the gearing for acceleration as he did some drap strips. 3.38 was recommended to
us by MNR for our 03 R1 injected for higher top end with minimal difference in acceleration but is a non lsd. 0-60 works out the same as you have to
shift earlier with a 3.62 - but this is only what i have heard and not fact
Adam
would you say the injected engine would be a better choice than the one on carbs?
I don't know what gearing is on the 2000 R1
i had a 3.14 on my last car 05 R1 and it was way to highly geared 82mph in 1st
i'd run a 3.62 but keep my eyes open for a 3.38
this time i'm going with a 3.38
3.38 in my 03 injected R1 (5PW) seems a good choice, can still hit the limiter in top on the longer tracks but still decent acceleration and approx 60
in 1st depending on tyre size.
I had a ~3.9 in my last Fury (Blackbird engine) mental acceleration but topped out a bit too early and revs were higher at motorway cruise speeds.
Get the 3.38 and put a Quaife ATB in it by joining the group buy I'm trying to organise Best of both worlds that way!
