Thought i'd post some pics now i'm on the road.
I'm glad i didn't go for the quaiffe reverse this time round as i think it's transformed the car in a good way. ie no horrible extra
transmission noise, plus i think it's a bit more nippy too
still not as fast as i'd like yet!
i've clocked up about 80 miles over the weekend
i think the X in vortx needs to be bigger

nice...like the steering wheel
Very nice looking motor that!
nice work! i hope my car looks as good when complete. and on an 09 plate.how come you say not quick enough? i have gone for R1 power too but not driven it yet.
very nice looks spot on
very nice ,is this the first 09 out there.if its not fast enough your not pressing the pedal far down ..12000..revs before changing gear
OOoo nice
thanks guys
the not fast enough was said tongue in cheek!
now how much for a turbo conversion
Iain, i know, i must stop hitting the rev limiter
80miles and all that SVA stuff fell off! Including the steering wheel! WOW!
that looks really nice, very smart,
i like the shades too IN MARCH????
Well the roads are bumpy around here the wheel was on for the sva with a pad, which someone nicked!
i needed the shades on saturday, i even got a tan!!
glad to see you back on the road.
i trust you have an extinguisher in this one just in case
Excellent John, looks well
Looking forward to meeting up soon for a blast
Looks like a really nice motor, just make sure you keep it that way.
Brad.
Lovely motor apart from the nose. Am I allowed to say without critiscism that I think those nose cones look bog awful!!!
no.no.no.i love mine lots and lots
Very nice that mate.
Hi there
I agree i don't like the new MNR nose,i prefer the traditional type.Fair due's to them though they are trying to brake the mold so to
speak.
I also agree about the Quaiffe reversing box, took mine off and sold it,it now feels alot sharper on the throttle
Deffo Stu, hurry up with the kitchen!!
i did think the same about the new style nose, as on the old car i started off with the traditional nose.
but in the flesh the new nose is lovely
i think it will be a cult classic!!
glad it's not just me who thought the quaiffe was a pile o poo
for the r1, you get about 200 quid change from 4 grand for a turbo....also about 500hp though and a full rebuild
Congratulations John,
Two car in less time than it has taken me to build one!
come on clive, stop stalling! be good to see another mnr local ish, i know of a dax and a indy up in Aylesbury
Looks wicked!
A great many cars look far better in the picture than in the flesh.
Having seen John's car in the person though I have to say it looks fantastic.
Personally I like the MNR nose too!
Cheers,
James

looks good.... less parking up for photo's, and more driving!!
ive got my SVA next monday.. cant wait to go out for a blast in it.
a few questions about yours:
is the steering wheel on a QR boss, or bolted on?
i thought MNR loaned people a sierra wheel, but they just handed me a pad to fit to my wheel like yours. i have a QR boss, and have read that people
have been failed for using them, but i was speaking to a chap at the weekend who had his tested with the same steering wheel with a QR boss, and pad
fitted, and it passed fine
Do you have any piccies of the padding you used around your clocks? my clocks are a bit more flush than yours as i cut a hole the shape of the
clocks, and fitted them in from the back, but im unsure how much padding im going to need?
did you have your aeroscreen fitted for sva?
the foam near where you knees are. did you tie wrap it on, or is it just slotted on? ive fitted some to mine just the same, but im usure if im going
to need to drill/tiewrap it into place?
Phew.. and lastly, did you use those mirrors for Sva?
Thanks
Good to meet you James good luck with getting yours on the road.
Clive if you need a hand let me know, if the weathers good i could pop down in the car.
Davey, yep i agree more driving less posing
Ok, the steering wheel on mine is QR and i just fitted the pad from mnr, some testers are ok with them some arn't.
i used it to count as a security device, if you have 2 others then maybe don't mention it's a QR
the clocks i just made up a piece of foam, got some small cieling tiles from BQ, stuck them together and then rounded the edges and stuck it on with
sticky tape.
i didn't have the aerosrceen fitted for sva. i fitted that and the racetech mirrors (so i knew where to mount the mirrors as i wanted them to
hold the aeroscreen on the edges) then removed them all and fitted the loan mirrors from mnr.
the foam for my knees is just the slotted plumbers stuff, it's not tie wrapped tight fit without.
and lastly good luck

Hi John, I might take you up on the offer, particularly with your body fitting experience! I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast and let you know nearer the weekend!
Hi Clive,
Can do saturday, but not sunday as it's Mothers day! so doing the family thing
Hi John,
I think we are on for Saturday. I got the side panels on and the exhaust manifold off last night so just the seats to come out and the steering rack
(or at least its arms) to come off and we're ready to go!
I've got a couple of car nut mates down the street who may be able to help but they'll cretainly want a demo ride in your MNR if you bring
it! Me too!
What sort of time can you come 'round and for how long?
Yours, Clive.
Hi Clive,
Can make mid morning.
can't stay all day but certainly a few hrs.
Hi John,
Okay, I'll get everything ready to go, and some extra hands round for about 10AM.
I'll send you my address by U2U.
See you then!
Clive.
Hi John,
Thanks again for helping out at the weekend (and for the demo ride). We certainly would have struggled without your advice and experience!
