5PW R1 thermostat housing
mark w - 22/2/10 at 09:08 AM

Hi all,

I have a 2003 5PW R1 engine going into my MNR. I have been told that I can use a later R1 thermostat outlet housing so that the outlet pipe is directed more inside the engine bay.

If anyone has done this could you let me know either the year/model R1 it comes from or the actual part number?

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark

I have the same engine in the same car what i have done is remove housing knock out the tube drill and tapped out the hole to 1/8 BPS and fitted a metal 90 degree stem adaptor and pointed rearward it in the direction of the scuttle.

Very easy Dave

Sorry I haven't replied to this thread for ages but I've almost got round to wanting to do this.

Does anyone have the part number of the housing that I need to use?

mark, pretty sure this is off the 04-06 (5JJ ?)

not sure of part no though. It puts the small outlet opposite the 5PW position
