Hi can anyone confirm what track rod ends a MNR Vortx uses if it runs inbourd suspension with the cortina based uprights and sierra rack? on the MNR
site it lists only sierra and escort and no real specifics.
Completely buggered both up during removal so whats the best way to get them off as id rather no do it again to the next set. The only rod end
seperators i had that were thin enough to get in are also the sharpest and tear through boots.

You get them off by whacking the surrounding metal with a big hammer either side of the hole that the TRE taper sits in if that makes sence.

Cortina/Escort Track rod ends are straight.
NB Must be Cortina MK3 to MK 5, or ordinary Escort MK2 1100/13000 not RS2000 or other RS models.
Sierra track rod ones have an offset and a slight curve, it also slightly longer than the Escort/Cortina type.
Threads and tapers are the same on both types

It's sierra ones you want but make sure they are Quinton Hazell
any other brand are too long by about 5mm
A sharp strike with a hammer on the steering arm should release the taper.
Fork type joint splitters will almost always split the boot. Lever type ones tend to be better but the fork side can still split the boot and the
lever can occationally bamage the thread. For really tight tappers use a lever type splitter, tighten it up then hit the steering arm.
boots might be a good idea although they almost come out at the price of a end itself and ours have had the boots battered for a while so not entirely
sure on their condition. are these easy to remove as ive never looked into it?
I had a look on ebay and they look just like the Sierra ones i take it these are the general ones for most models.
For removal is a hammer on the rod end ok as its attached to an alloy rack extender?

It's not the track rod end side that you need to hit. Its the steering arm on the hub that the taper goes into.
my rod ends supplied by mnr are too small for the steering arm hole in the upright. the taper is too small and is always loose in the hole?
